Why PT
I played sports growing up so I was always interested in anything that has to do with exercise. I played basketball all throughout high school and college and I knew I wanted to go into the physical therapy once I entered high school and started having small injuries and would see my team mates rehab even bigger injuries. After already being interested in PT for a couple of years, I watched my cousin who was in a serious car accident go from not being able to sit up in bed to walking and this furthered my interest in the field. I knew I wanted to be part of a profession that allowed others to better themselves and improve their quality of life.
Patient Tips
I think it’s important for patients to remember that PT is a marathon, not a race. It takes time to break bad habits and can require a lot of repetition to heal the body. What a patient does in their everyday life is a big part of the rehab process so staying active outside of the clinic is just as important to maintain strength and staying pain free. Creating these healthy habits will allow a long term affect on the body.
